Position Description:
Horizon Health Network is seeking an Anesthesiologist to join our collaborative teams in beautiful Saint John, New Brunswick! This is a locum opportunity.
Join our growing department of 22 Anesthesiologists from many different backgrounds and cultures. Work in our Operating room suite as a team providing modern healthcare to our population including robotic surgery and a soon to be open state of the art hybrid suite. Elective, Obstetric and emergency cover duties are shared and range from acute multi trauma to routine minor surgery day case lists.

Job Duties:
The following outlines the basic responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned from time to time as may be necessary to the operation of Horizon Health Network:
- Provide consultations for inpatients, outpatients, ER, obstetric, CCU, and surgical patients, including pre-surgical and pre-anesthetic assessments.
- Deliver anesthesia, acute, and chronic pain services where skills and experience allow.
- Offer telephone consultations to colleagues as needed.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, nurses, and peers.
- Attend departmental meetings and participate in committees.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on patient care and education.
- Adhere to evidence-based practices to ensure high standards of care.
- Participate in departmental on-call coverage.
- Support the mission, values, and strategic goals of the Health Authority.
- Perform other duties as assigned by departmental or hospital leadership.
Remuneration:
Locum
The remuneration for this opportunity is billed Fee-For-Service, which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare New Brunswick, with additional guaranteed daily and post-call stipend of $744 CAD.
Additional locum coverage is available.
Qualifications:
A medical degree is required.
- Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Anesthesiology
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
- Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment from Dalhousie University.
- Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset.
- In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Good attendance and work record.
- Physically able to perform assigned duties.

About the Facility:
Horizon’s Saint John Regional Hospital is the largest tertiary care hospital in New Brunswick and is the primary health care referral centre for this area and to all New Brunswickers for major trauma and cardiac care.
The New Brunswick Trauma Program, New Brunswick Heart Centre, and the New Brunswick Stem Cell Transplant Centre are located within the hospital, as are Radiation Oncology and Nephrology services. This site offers autologous stem cell therapy and a stem cell processing laboratory.
The Saint John Regional Hospital also serves as the centre for Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick’s distributed medical education program. The hospital services a catchment population of 170,000 people.
