Pediatric & Allergy & Immunology Opportunity
The Moncton Hospital, a facility within Horizon Health Network, is currently recruiting a pediatrician with additional training in pediatric allergy and immunology. Currently, the department has a complement of two neonatologists and six pediatricians. Care includes conventional ventilation support to preterm newborns, nitric oxide (NO), as well as high frequency oscillation (HFO). We also provide hypothermia “cool-cap” therapy for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. NICU coverage is also provided by 4 of the pediatricians, and on-call rotation will be 1 in 6. NICU is a recognized tertiary care service in the Province of New Brunswick.
The Moncton Hospital is a regional referral center and teaching hospital; with 3500 deliveries per year in our referral region; 18 bed NICU; 20-bed Pediatric Unit; 3-bed PICU. Options of practice include solo or group with fee for service remuneration.

The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health Network. It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia. It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties. The hospital has two state of the art MIS suites as well as a new outpatient complex including an up-to-date GI/endoscopy suite, clinics and minor OR suites.
The Moncton Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University and Memorial University of Newfoundland. The hospital is one of the largest employers within metro Moncton, employing 3,000 staff and physicians.
HOURS OF WORK
- Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- On-call coverage in coordination with the other members of the division
A typical weekly schedule will include:
- Pediatric and allergy and immunology services
- On-call coverage in coordination with other members of the division
- Teaching residents and medical students
Standard remuneration is fee-for-service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. No source deductions can be provided. However, under special circumstances, with approval from the Department of Health of New Brunswick, a salaried model, with benefits, may be available. This may range between a minimum of $227,786 to a maximum of $276,900 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. On-call and out-of-province remuneration is fee-for-service.
Locums receive 10% in lieu of benefits.
These rates are based on New Brunswick’s Medicare Medical Pay Plan and are subject to changes based on policy updates.

QUALIFICATIONS:The Department of Pediatrics requires that its active and courtesy members have passed the examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of la Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec. In circumstances where no Canadian trained applicants are available, the Department will consider physicians with American Board certification who are able to obtain licensure in the State of Maine, as well as Irish or UK certified physicians (MRCP/MRCPI). In special circumstances, foreign graduates who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick will be considered.
