Child & Adolescent Psychiatrie

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Moncton Hospital is seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work with two other Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.  The Child and Adolescent In-patient Unit serves the needs of children and adolescents from 9-16 years of age and provides both assessment and treatment for patients from all over the Province.  Psychiatric coverage is provided on an on-call basis by Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.  On-call is 1 in 4 with extra remuneration for this.

The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health Network.  It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia.  It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties.  The hospital has two state of the art MIS suites as well as a new outpatient complex including an up-to-date GI/endoscopy suite, clinics and minor OR suites.

The Moncton Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University.  The hospital is one of the largest employers within metro Moncton, employing 3,000 staff and physicians.

HOURS OF WORK
• Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• On-call coverage in coordination with the other members of the Department

REMUNERATION:
Standard remuneration is fee-for-service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick.  No source deductions can be provided.  However, under special circumstances, with approval from the Department of Health of New Brunswick, a salaried model, with benefits, may be available.  This may range between a minimum of $225,524 to a maximum of $274,170 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience.  Locums receive 10% in lieu of benefits.  On-call and out-of-province remuneration is fee-for-service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
The Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry is the qualification required to care for Children & Adolescents at The Moncton Hospital in the following settings:
  1. Emergency Department and if patient under 16 years of age is admitted, the patient must be transferred to a Child & Adolescent psychiatrist at the earliest available time.
  2. Child & Adolescent Unit on a temporary or emergency basis when a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist is not available.
 
Under special circumstances, recognized training or work experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from the British Isles, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and other Western European countries may be accepted provided the following requirements are met:
 
  1. Certification in Psychiatry from the jurisdiction of training.
  2. At least an 18-month exposure in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry either as a trainee or a consultant in Psychiatry including locum consultant or senior registrar in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
