
THE POSITION: General SURGEON
Horizon Health Network, Miramichi area (Region 7), is actively seeking a full time general surgeon. The department at present consists of 3 general surgeons. Participants will be expected to participate in the general surgery on-call schedule and teaching of residents and medical students.

JOB DUTIES:
Standard remuneration is Fee-for-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. On call remuneration is provided.

JOB DUTIES:
- Provide an outpatient service for the assessment and management of patients including weekly clinics, minor OR cases, and endoscopy.
- Provide inpatient care including daily rounds on patients.
- Provide consultations to hospital-based patients as requested by medical or hospital staff.
- Provide telephone consultation to colleagues.
- On-call coverage in coordination with other members of the service is required.
- Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate.
- Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.
- Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A medical degree is required.
- Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as Specialist in general surgery, or equivalent certification.
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.
