JOB DESCRIPTION

Le département de médecine de famille du Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont cherche à recruter un médecin de famille à temps plein. Le ou la candidat(e) sélectionné(e) s’engage à assumer, à tour de rôle, la semaine de couverture des patients du CHU Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont ainsi que les gardes de fins de semaine. Il ou elle doit détenir un bureau dans la communauté du Grand Moncton et doit participer et offrir les services de soins primaires à la clientèle. Le choix des services qui lui seront assignés sera établi selon les priorités déterminées préalablement par les départements du Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges- L. Dumont en fonction des besoins des patients en services de santé.

Cela signifie que le ou la candidat(e) sectionné(e) s’engage à prendre comme patients, des membres de la communauté actuellement sans médecin de famille et dont les besoins ou/et suivis médicaux les désignent à être assignés de façon prioritaire à un médecin.

Il ou elle offrira des services aux patients hospitalisés et participera au programme d’hospitalisation et aux gardes.   Ce poste est principalement axé sur les soins de santé primaires médicaux et préventifs en communauté et peut comprendre les soins palliatifs, gériatriques, urgence, cliniques d’obstétrique, liste de garde opératoire, oncologie et autres. Le ou la candidate est attendu(e) de participer à l’enseignement des étudiants et résidents en médecine.

Overview of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre (UHC) – The Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, located in the heart of the City of Moncton, is the lead facility of the Beauséjour Zone (Kent and Southeastern New Brunswick region) of Vitalité Health Network. This 302-bed hospital provides primary, specialized and tertiary (more complex) care using cutting-edge technology. It has over 240 physicians, 2,000 employees and 315 volunteers. It provides services in both official languages. The Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC serves patients from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. It is a provincial referral centre for its highly specialized services. As a teaching and research hospital, it maintains close ties with a number of the country’s universities and colleges.

Overview of the Regional Health Authority – Vitalité Health Network is one of the two regional health authorities (RHAs) in New Brunswick. The Network is the only Francophone managed organization of its kind in the country and provides services in nearly 70 sites and points of service throughout four health zones covering all of the northern region and part of the southeastern region of the province. Services and care are provided in the official language chosen by the patient and are available at home, in the community or in a facility, according to needs. The range of services includes prevention and health promotion, treatment of illness, rehabilitation, home care and palliative care. Public health, community mental health and addiction services; community health centres; the Extra-Mural Program; and veterans' centres are offered in addition to hospital services to provide a broader range of health care services. The Network is also active in the training and research fields, with these efforts helping to keep employees’ skills up-to-date and to plan for succession. NATURE OF WORK

The position involves clinical work providing general medical care to patients. Duties include medical functions related to the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and may require working closely with various health professionals. The work, which offers considerable latitude to allow for independent action and judgment, will be reviewed by the head of the department or clinical program to which the physician belongs. The work may also be monitored by the Local and/or Regional Chief of Staff and the Regional Medical Director for the Regional Health Authority (RHA). The physician must abide by the By-Laws of the RHA.


REMUNERATION

Remuneration is based on a fee-for-service model under which New Brunswick Medicare pays fees directly to the medical staff for any service provided.
