Anatomical Pathologist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Vitalité Health Network, located in New Brunswick, is seeking a full-time anatomical pathologist. The successful candidate will provide anatomical pathology services. The candidate will have to participate in teaching medical students and residents.
EMPLOYER:
Overview of the Regional Health Authority – Vitalité Health Network is one of the two regional health authorities in New Brunswick. The Network is the only Francophone managed organization of its kind in the country and provides services in nearly 70 sites and points of service throughout four health zones covering all of the northern region and part of the southeastern region of the province. Services and care are provided in the official language chosen by the patient and are available at home, in the community or in a facility, according to needs. The range of services includes illness prevention and health promotion, treatment of illness, rehabilitation, home care and palliative care. The additional services provided outside hospital facilities – including public health, community mental health, addiction, community health centres, the Extra-Mural Program and veterans' centres – make for a broader range of health service delivery. The Network is also active in the training and research fields, with these efforts helping to keep employees’ skills up-to-date and to plan for succession. HOURS OF WORK:
• Based on the agreement set by the department/service head;
• Evening and weekend on-call coverage shared among department members.
NATURE OF WORK:
The position involves professional medical work performed by licensed specialists (holding specialist licensure recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick). A licensed specialist enjoys great clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical problems within their field of specialization. Their clinical work and performance may be monitored and evaluated by the department/division/service and/or clinical program of the physician associated to them. The work may also be monitored by the local and/or regional Chief of Staff and the Medical Director for the zone within the regional health authority (RHA). The physician abides by the by-laws and policies of the RHA.
COMPENSATION:
The successful candidate will be remunerated on a salary basis, with a salary scale ranging from $225,524 to $274,170 annually (excluding benefits and payroll deductions), determined based on experience and qualifications. A 22.5% premium for pathologists is granted to remain market competitive. On-call coverage is remunerated separately based on a fee-for-service model.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in anatomical pathology;
- Degree from a recognized medical school and advanced studies in the field of specialization;
- Experience in anatomical pathology and managing a laboratory;
- Experience with oncology biomarkers (e.g. PD-L1, MMR) to develop a regional service offer, in collaboration with the Molecular Genetics Department, which handles NGS;
- Experience with digital pathology to integrate image analysis / artificial intelligence to the interpretation of oncology biomarkers and participate in the transition toward digital reading of all pathology cases treated within Vitalité Health Network;
- Participate in the university mission of the Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont UHC (research and teaching) in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Moncton;
- Take part in the reading of pathology cases from Vitalité Health Network;
