Pediatrician - Campbellton

The Campbellton Regional Hospital in New Brunswick is seeking to recruit a full-time pediatrician. The pediatrician will have great clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical problems within their field of specialization.  They will exercise independent judgment, provide outpatient services and act as a consultant for other physicians.  In short, they will be responsible for providing pediatric care to the population of the Restigouche Zone.  The candidate will be expected to participate in teaching medical students and residents.

Overview of the Campbellton Regional Hospital (CRH) – The CRH is a 166-bed regional facility providing general care.   The CRH provides the region’s residents with all primary and secondary services.  With a staff of over 900, it is supported by 37 family physicians and 33 medical specialists.  The hospital provides a full range of services, including emergency care, ambulatory care, intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology, acute psychiatry, medicine, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, pediatrics, palliative care and veterans’ care.  The facility provides a full range of diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, including a mobile MRI system.  Teamwork is a priority for the CRH’s staff, as shown by the commitment of its various committees and multidisciplinary teams.  The CRH is an authorized partner of the Programme en médecine de famille francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick, which is affiliated with the Université de Sherbrooke.
Overview of the Regional Health Authority – Vitalité Health Network is one of the two regional health authorities in New Brunswick.  The Network is the only Francophone managed organization of its kind in the country and provides services in nearly 70 sites and points of service throughout four health zones covering all of the northern region and part of the southeastern region of the province.  Services and care are provided in the official language chosen by the patient and are available at home, in the community or in a facility, according to needs. The range of services includes illness prevention and health promotion, treatment of illness, rehabilitation, home care and palliative care.  The additional services provided outside hospital facilities – including public health, community mental health, addiction, community health centres, the Extra-Mural Program and veterans' centres – make for a broader range of health service delivery.  The Network is also active in the training and research fields, with these efforts helping to keep employees’ skills up-to-date and to plan for succession.  Further information is available by visiting our website at

• Based on the agreement set by the department/service head;
• Evening and weekend on-call coverage shared among the department members.

The position involves professional medical work performed by a licensed specialist (holding specialist licensure recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick). A licensed specialist enjoys great clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical problems within their field of specialization. They exercise independent judgment; however, their results and observations may be monitored and evaluated by the department or clinical program head or by the medical director responsible for the department to which the physician belongs. Their work may also be monitored by the local and regional Chiefs of Staff and the Medical Director for the zone within the regional health authority (RHA). The physician abides by the By-Laws of the RHA.
Remuneration is based on a salary model with benefits.
• Degree from a recognized medical school and postgraduate university degree in the field of specialization (Pediatrics);
• Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC);
